Poor feature

Bought this jacket last November and have been wearing in light showers (maybe wore it 5-6 times)I wore it a coupe of days ago during a heavy shower and the jacket completely absorbed every drop of rain. With this I bought the recommended gortex cleaner and DWR, followed all the steps and nothing. Trying repeating the steps again and the jacket absorbs even more water. Would not recommend this jacket for the price point only if you want to take nice pictures in it

Hi there. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Beta Jacket. We're sorry to hear it's not performing as expected in wet conditions. The Beta Jacket features a GORE-TEX ePE membrane, which is highly breathable and waterproof, but like all GORE-TEX garments, it does rely on regular maintenance of the DWR finish for optimal performance. We do, however, recommend filling out a Product Service Request Form so our team can take a closer look and help find a resolution.

Great fit & very light rain jacket

I was highly impressed by the fit and ease of wearing of this jacket; it is so light you barely notice you are wearing a rain jacket. During hikes it also packs easily away in my 15 litre backpack next to my sweater, 2 liters of water, first aid kit & lunch.

Feels good, but fits small

I really wanted to love this jacket but unfortunately it doesn't fit. Because it's designed to be a but more fitted that mean if you're on the heavier side with more hips then it simply can't zip up. Whenever I sized up it just felt like only the arms were getting longer. It would be great if the Beta was offered in a fit that was more inclusive to different body types.

A great jacket for hiking and urban exploration

This is an excellent jacket for day hikes or easy multi-day trips. It’s also a great choice for urban exploration. My jacket is in the Verve color — a bright and vibrant option for the mountains. It makes you visually noticeable to your hiking partners and to rescuers if needed. I’d like to point out that this jacket is not only great for the mountains, but also works very well in an urban setting. It has a very comfortable hood and spacious pockets.

Had to return-no pit zips!!!!

No pit zips for any gortex jacket is just crazy….you state it’s for hiking well yes we get warm AND I want to use this for warm ski days as my 5 yr old Sabre which I love is too bulky for warm ski days…come on Arc’teryx all your physical activity jackets MUST have pit zips …..no I dont want the bulky helmet comparable Beta LT Waaaay too many choices with waaay too many exact uses…..we all want this jacket for warmer days or all around use (& rain jacket)that has a low profile hood NOT those big bulky flappy helmet compatible ones ……sorry but I’m frustrated S a long time Arc customer things seems to change too much ……also no more “short” Sabre ski pants ……mine are wearing out & need new ones & you don’t have them anymore Ugh

The Beta Jacket is designed as a versatile, everyday piece and that its the reason why some technical features like pit zips are not offered. The Beta SL Jacket, on the other hand, does feature pit zippers and while it also features a helmet-compatible Stormhood, this can be adjusted. We will, however, make sure to pass your comments to our team.

Man..... If you want pit zips, buy one with pit zips, don't give this 1 Star smh... Infact, I specifically DONT want pit zips. So if the situation was reversed, should I be giving 1 Star because the jacket has pit zips? Arcteryx staff your patience is commendable.

Beta jacket, M. 1,82m, 82kg, very good fit, light and no bulk to carry in the pack for hiking, walking, day ski-mountaineering. It would be nice if it brought a compression or carrying bag.

Beta Jacket Men's

This is our most versatile GORE-TEX shell. Made with a durable 80D face fabric and a GORE‑TEX ePE (expanded polyethylene) membrane that’s light, strong, and PFC-free, it delivers lasting waterproof, windproof, breathable protection with a reduced carbon footprint. The C-KNIT backer adds comfort, and the low-profile StormHood adjusts with a quick pull to provide coverage and maintain lines of sight. Articulation removes restriction, and an embedded RECCO reflector can aid in search emergencies.

What's been updated: Updated with a new durable, lightweight GORE-TEX ePE fabric that offers a reduced carbon footprint and has an 80D face fabric for enhanced durability without added weight.

This product is free of intentionally added PFAS.

The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as the materials we used before.   You may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but rest assured this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself. If you notice the fabric wetting out faster than you’d like, simply wash the jacket and dry it to remove the oil contamination and bring the DWR back to its full power.
