Atom Hoody Men's

I'm really impressed with the Atom hoody as it's a very versatile piece. I was concerned that the side panels would let the wind whip through but they don't. I've worn this (with a light fleece under) in -10 C wind-chill 80 kph winds and did not feel any wind cutting through. If you're moderately active and with a fleece under, it's quite warm, with just a base layer you can do moderate activity around 0 C, and if you just wear it around town car hopping up to around 5 C before it's too warm. I have the Atom Heavyweight and it's much warmer, but frankly so warm its impractical if you're doing moderate exertion and the temps aren't really cold (less than -10 C). I've also got the Atom jacket and I use that as a layer under my rain gear on really cold wet days (I don't like double hoods) but added the Atom Hoody for moderate winter days, and cold drizzly days where I need a hood. It's not waterproof and I did reapply a DWR to increase it's resistance and it does well in a quick shower or wet snow situation as long as you're not out too long. That said, the synthetic is easy to dry. I was honestly surprised by how capable and versatile it is. Definitely in my top 5 jackets.

I love this Jacket. Today i recived my 3. generation of it. The new hoodshield works nice for me. I just have the feeling that the cut on the hips got tighter.

Seems to run a little small. Tight across the chest. Other than that this is the best jacket I have ever purchased. Can layer underneath for minus zero weather. Does very well in the wind of the east front of the Rockies. Like the old commercial "takes a beating and keeps on ticking".

Review of the Arc'teryx Atom Jacket I have been a loyal customer of Arc'teryx for years, and the Atom jacket has been one of my favorites. This is actually my second Atom, and overall, I am very satisfied with its performance. The design, fit, and functionality are excellent, making it a great piece of gear for various outdoor activities. However, I have noticed two significant issues that I believe should be addressed to maintain the high standards of the brand. The biggest problem is with the high collar of the jacket. In less than a year of use, the fabric at the top of the collar has started to show considerable wear due to friction with facial hair. The material has begun to pill, fray, and degrade at an alarming rate. I purchased this jacket in late March 2024, and despite careful use and cleaning, the collar already looks excessively worn. Given the price, I find it disappointing that such an essential part of the jacket wears out so quickly. (See photos).  For a brand like Arc'teryx, known for its durability and attention to detail, this is a flaw that should not be present. I strongly suggest that the company consider reinforcing this area with a more resistant fabric or an additional lining to prevent such premature wear. It is frustrating to see an otherwise excellent jacket suffer from this issue, especially at this price point. I sincerely hope Arc'teryx takes this feedback into account, as improving the collar's durability would make the Atom an even better product. Despite this flaw, I still appreciate the jacket's overall quality—but for now, I hesitate to recommend it without reservations.

perfect lightweight jacket for all seasons, water doesn't get through and it keeps you very warm. Plenty of adjustability including the hood and waist, and very stylish.
