Major upgrade to the LD series

Having owned and heavily used the LD 2 and LD 3 shoes, I can easily say the LD 4's are my favourite iteration yet. First of all, they were the easiest to break in yet. In the past it's taken weeks to run without sore feet, but these ones were a breeze with very little stiff/soreness.
They "feel" lighter and more responsive than the prior versions too, and the grip has definitely levelled up. I've used these on both road and trail so far (plus some very old cobblestone roads while travelling) and I've enjoyed the feel on all of those. I don't think I'd recommend it for consistent longer runs on pavement (for obvious reasons) but have done a few 8-10k runs with them and still felt great.
Finally it feels like the toe box might be a bit more spacious in this version? I have slight bunions on the outer edges (pinky side) of my feet so the room is a big W for me :)

A great update to an already awesome trail shoe!

My previous concern with the LD3s was that the edges of the toe box had a tendency to blow out after running on rocky terrain. HOWEVER, these solve that issue! The sides of the toe box are reinforced with an additional layer and the toe box itself has been shaved down slightly to mold better to natural foot movement. Super great changes to an already amazing shoe!

A subtle yet solid upgrade!

The Norvan LD4 has some thoughtful updates that long-distance trail runners will appreciate. Right away, the improved heel fit stands out and it locks in more securely than previous versions and gifts a more confidence and stability on technical terrain.
The redesigned lug pattern is meant to offer better grip, and while it’s not a night-and-day difference on shorter runs, the added traction really comes through when needed. There’s also a noticeable change in cushioning — it feels a touch more forgiving underfoot.
The LD4 stays true to the Norvan DNA - light, reliable, and built for distance.

Love these so far!

These have been a great addition to the shoe quiver. Toebox feels roomier, and the cushion is just enough for harder-packed gravel and concrete between softer trails. I swapped out the original beds for superfeet to support a high arch (like all of my other shoes) and they work great. I also have a narrow foot, so I make sure to lace them up as tight as I can. The only thing I've noticed is that the tongue is a lighter, stretchy material, similar to the gaiter on other styles. This feels a bit thick/long on me, but I think it will be totally fine on a more medium-sized foot. Still plenty comfy/adjustable. This is my 2nd pair of Norvans (loved my LD 3's!), so excited to continue to put these to the test!

comfortable right out of the box

These felt great right out of the box. The Norvan has performed well in mud and on rock without loosing any traction. So far they have been great light weight trail shoes. I will say I had to size down. I typically wear 8W and went with the 7.5W, and I still have a roomy toe box.

Brilliant do-it-all trail shoe

Really thrilled with this generation of the Norvan trail runner. It's definitely going to be a daily driver around the Wasatch this summer ... the light weight helps on long energy-sapping days, and the grip is holding well on loose gravelly trails in the SLC foothills. The rubber they used on the soles is billed as "mud-shedding" and I've put that to the test—they do indeed shed mud nicely, which I appreciate so much ... getting mud caked on is always a pain and a slow-down. The lace garage is working well--tie the laces in a bow, then tuck them into the stretchy bow-holder to stay put for your whole run. I chose the Rune/Dark Arctic Silk color because in real life it's a pretty pale pink; I was worried they'd look dirty quickly, but after several outings the shoe's exterior seems to shed dirt and resist scuffs well.

Adore the New Tread

I really do love the new Norvan design this year. I feel like the top is more breathable and the sides are more water and mud resistant. The tread feels like it has more tractions when I am going downhill on mud and the shoe feels a lighter. Excited to break these in more on spring trails.

Great lightweight trail runners!

These shoes are so light you forget you're wearing them! I've taken them on a few trails already and have found them to be super responsive, lightweight, and great traction on rock. The soles are surprisingly cushiony and I don't feel every little rock I'm running over.
I did find that they run a little larger than LD3s. I am usually a size 8.5 for LD3 and found myself right in between an 8 and 8.5 for LD4.
