WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BACKPACK AND A DAYPACK?
A men’s daypack is for quick and fun outings in the backcountry with lighter loads. A true backpack is bigger and may come with more features for longer outings, including compression straps, hipbelt pockets, and internal and external pockets. Water bottle pockets may or may not be on either.
THE PERFECT DAYPACK SIZE DOES NOT EXI…
Yes, it does. You just need to tailor the pack choice it to your needs. Some people require more water, food or layers than others. Most of our daypacks are upwards of 15 litres; generally, 35 litres is a generous amount of room for most people. Size up if you want to bring more gear like snowshoes, climbing gear or a big camera kit. Size down if you’re looking to move more fast and light on the trail. Pay attention to the quality of the shoulder straps, compression straps, and any features like hipbelt pockets, internal and external pockets, and water bottle pockets. Perfect daypack attained. You’re welcome.
HOW BIG SHOULD A MAN’S BACKPACK BE?
As big as he needs for his, umm, needs. Consider how long you’ll be out there, how much gear you need to carry, the type of terrain you’ll be on, and how quickly you want to move through the mountains. With a solid sized compartment and one zippered pocket, many men would be happy. Others need the full suite of features including compression straps, hipbelt pockets, shoulder straps, internal and external zippered pockets, water bottle pockets, and everything else one might expect in a waterproof daypack. Still, those who only carry lighter loads might be happy with 15 litres. An ardent camper might want a backpacking pack with a 75-litre capability.
WHICH DAY PACK IS BEST?
The daypack that gets you there comfortably and home safe is the right pack. Look for compression straps, hipbelt pockets, shoulder straps, internal and external zippered pockets, and water bottle pockets. For lighter loads, go feature light and just make sure it’s a waterproof daypack. Generally, around 30 litres is a good size.
