Bad customer service and bad quality

I had an atom lightweight jacket for 3 months and the fabric is stretching and the customer service can’t do nothing and don’t want to do nothing for me. Worse customer service experience in my life.

Good active wear piece for cool weather.

I wanted this for hiking in cool/cold weather and so far it's been good. Warm once moving and breathes well. The side panels help dump heat, but I haven't noticed any issues with being cold there or with the wind cutting through. Been using it in around 0 C so far with a very light fleece, definitely able to go lower with a thicker layer and/or more activity. Layers perfectly under a Beta. Overall I'm happy with the Atom but the zippers on the pockets could use some improvement as they often catch on the pocket liner or just generally jam up. Minor but still could be improved.

Frustrating zippers

Decent jacket, versatile and comfortable. The problem is the lining of the pockets is constantly getting caught in the zipper. Could’ve been avoided with a different choice of material for the pocket lining. Really frustrating.

Very impressed with the quality of the Atom Jacket. Though light, it keeps you warm as if you’re wearing a medium thickness down jacket. As for the fit of the jacket, I’ve never had such a perfect XL “fit” that the Atom has. I can’t recommend this jacket enough. Well done Arc’teryx!!

Warm Jacket- Zipper Won't Stay Up

This is an excellent insulating layer for town or the mountains. A weakness is that the zipper will simply not stay where it is positioned. Zip it all the way up and the zipper has a mind of its own gradually sliding back down. This is very annoying- but still just a first world problem.

The ultimate mid layer

As a mid mid layer it doesn't get any better than the Atom jacket. It will side comfortably over any base layer and provide a frictionless mid layer under any shell be it hard or soft without bulk. This makes it ideal for ce climbing where maximum mobility is key. The side venting panels make it perfect for approaches or while climbing - it really is the all in one ideal mid layer. I have a hood on my base layer and a hood on my shell so like this option with no hood to keep things simple. An added plus is that it's a great down town jacket as well.

I love it!

What I like about this jacket is that it is a great active insulated layer. It’s light enough that I can move around in cold environments without feeling very sweaty. I do recommend being careful with the fabric though as it is susceptible to abrasions.

Best every day jacket.

I wear my Atom Jacket pretty much every days. I have it at all time went I am in the mountains skiing, climbing, fishing, etc.... I also wear it as a casual jacket any other time.
I like this Atom jacket because it's comfortable true a big range of temperatures, it's fairly waterproof and dry very fast and also good looking.

I agree, I have an older Atom LT and the new Atom.....and the new Atom seems a little thinner in insulation than the older Atom LT.

excessive fabric makes for unflattering fit

I had bought this product several years ago, I tried on a different color in store today and was SHOCKED at how much excessive fabric there is around the waist area. It might as well be a different product at this point. The product used to be better, it was more slim and athletic, but Atom jacket today creates a very unflattering look, please fix it and bring back the old fit!
Reminder: Arc'teryx was started as a clothing brand for mountain climbing athletes, and climbers want athletic fit.

Good performance and sharp looking jacket

Great jacket, provides good warmth for its weight and volume and also looks sharp, so good to go to the mountain and within the city.
The only downside it's the prize, which I find excesive, and also the exterior fabric could be a little more durable at the expense of some extra grams, could be 30 deniers nylon intstead of 20 deniers.

Basically the ultimate jacket. Wear this for temps between 5C-15C in Berlin and it is incredibly comfortable with some decent drizzle protection. Great packability too which is helpful. Also looks sharp - I wear this for travel, casual, office, even a funeral.

Great jacket for Toronto weather

It's a great all around jacket. It's probably my second most used jacket beside the Atom SL.
It's really light, packable and comfortable. It breathes good and it can get warm with a little activity.
Arcteryx needs to bring back Kingfisher colourway and better colours.

Extremely Delicate and NOT Durable

Jacket looks sharp and does the job as a layering jacket to keep you warm in mild weather. However, it is extremely delicate and snags easily even with very light city use. Arc'Teryx would not warranty the tear that occurred within the first couple of weeks of light wear and instead installed an ugly black patch over the tear in my blue jacket. The durability of this jacket does not meet expectations for a high-end outdoor garment, and Arc'Teryx has much better options. I do not recommend this product for any use.

Hubby loves the Atom Hoody, but I prefer him sans hoody. The wear, fit and performance are identical, but looks dressier. He gets a new Atom, or two, every year. Wish that Arcteryx was more inclusive with sizing. Larger people also like quality, performance and being active. It's a 6-star jacket, but loses stars due to company bias, only.

A good jacket for midlayer. Downside is the low and loose collar. It should be taller and fit more snugly like women's version does. The colour Stratus is excellent. Please make it also with Arctic Silk, it would be the perfect colour. And with the tall more snugly collar it would be the perfect midlayer to go with anything.

do NOT recommend if you carry backpack

I wear this jacket as outer jacket during spring and fall, often carrying a backpack. The fabric tears terribly fast, within months there are visible tear marks / stretches in side panel, underneath the arms and it looks damaged. Customer service suggests the face fabric is not designed for durability hence when there is outerforce fiction the fabric jam up.
Okay so don't buy it if you are planning to carry around a backpack and wear it as a standalone jacket.
for me this limits significantly the chances to wear the jacket.

I also found that that the outer fabric tears easily with very light, very normal outdoor use within a year of owning. I have many 10s of small tears in my shoulder and back area from backpacks, laying on the floor, etc. I was hopeful that customer support would help me but they decided that my tears are not worthy of help. I suspect they help very few people which is a shame because it is someone expected given the price and assumed quality if the brand.

I love this jacket!

One of the key pieces for all my adventures. I love it so much I bought one for the city and also the Atom light (fyi atom light fits a little snugger). Surprisingly warm for the weight. Also breaths well and packs down nicely.
