Question 4

I do hesitate between the fissil Sv and the macai witch one is the best for cold temperatures

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Benoit, great question. Both the Fissle SV Down Jacket and the Macai Jacket are excellent choices for cold temperatures. They’re primarily designed for resort skiing in extreme cold, but can also be used for other winter activities. Both jackets have 750-fill European goose down for exceptional warmth and use Coreloft synthetic insulation in moisture-prone areas. The Fissile SV uses 100gsm (grams per square meter) Coreloft, while the Macai uses 140gsm, giving it slightly more synthetic insulation. Both jackets have a GORE-TEX outer layer for protection against wind and precipitation. We do not assign temperature or warmth ratings to our garments since warmth can vary based on factors like activity level, layering, and personal comfort. However, both jackets are built to keep you warm in extremely cold conditions, so you'll be well protected with either option. If you are looking for the most technical performance for the harshest conditions, the Fissle SV may be the better option. It includes features like an integrated insulated collar and a removable powder skirt. If you prefer something slightly lighter with a refined look and a bit more synthetic insulation, the Macai Jacket is a good choice. We hope this helps.

Question 5

Is it PFAS-free GORE-TEX ePE?

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hi Santiago, thank you for your question. Yes, the Fissile SV Down Jacket is made with PFAS-free GORE‑TEX ePE technology. This material provides complete waterproof, windproof, and breathable protection while eliminating PFAS chemicals. We hope this helps!

Question 6

Helio, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Question 7

Which gsm of Coreloft is used on shoulders? Shoulder insulation felt very thin, which is creating cold spots on shoulders.

Seymour · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear that you’re noticing cold spots around the shoulders, and we understand how frustrating that can be. The Fissile SV Down Jacket strategically uses Coreloft™ 100 gsm synthetic insulation in moisture-heavy areas. If you feel like your jacket is not performing as expected, we recommend filling out a Product Service Request on our website, and our team will help provide a suitable solution for you. We hope this helps!

Question 8

What are the differences between the 2024 and 2025 models of the Fissile SV?

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello there, there are no changes between the 2024 and 2025 models of the Fissile SV Down; both versions deliver the same premium warmth, weather protection, and feature set you rely on, with identical construction, materials, and design details.

Question 9

Is the powder skirt both integrated and detachable as described by Arcteryx? That sounds a little contradictory...at least to me. I want to be sure.

River, Arc'teryx Guest Services · Accepted Answer

Hello Jason, the powder skirt is integrated into the jacket for full coverage when needed, but it is also removable by a zipper, allowing you to detach it entirely if you prefer a cleaner fit or don’t require that feature. We hope this helps!

Question 10

1) how many grams of down in Fissile SV? Still the same as before of 195g?

2) what are the key differences between Fissile SV and Macai (warmth, fit, construction, etc)? Feature-wise, they look almost on par. Fissile SV looks warmer and burlier, though.

Sophie · Accepted Answer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. In our men's base size medium, the Fissile SV Down Jacket contains 195.30 grams of down insulation, which remains consistent with previous versions. When comparing the Fissile SV and the Macai Jacket, both are designed for resort use and feature a regular fit, waterproof and breathable construction, and down insulation. However, there are some key differences between the two. The Fissile SV offers significantly more down, making it the warmer and heavier option overall. It weighs around 1.2 kilograms and is built as our warmest on-area jacket, ideal for cold resort conditions with a focus on maximum insulation and durability. The Macai Jacket, on the other hand, contains approximately 68.63 grams of down and weighs about 930 grams. It is tailored more for on-piste skiing and snowboarding, offering a balance of warmth, mobility, and technical performance. While they share similar features, the Fissile SV is the burlier choice for those prioritizing warmth and protection in colder environments.
