Decent piece but kind of unnecessary

Bought this piece in blue and the light blue on the arms looks kind of washed when I got it, didn't really like the colour. Also the seams on the outside of the arms really don't look great after rubbing against granite.
It fits good. It's decently warm. Breathes decently. Still kind of want to put on a wind jacket when it blows up so it feels like I'm using it as a normal fleece.. in retrospect I'd probably put my money on a decent fleece and a softshell instead.

Poor Quality Control - Threads undone in a month

The quality of Arcteryx has dropped signficantly as someone who has bought their products for 5+ years. I recently bought the Konseal hoodie in black, and within a month, i'm already seeing the threads fall apart at the cuff.

Great climbing hoody

This hoody is great for moderate weather. I wouldn’t use it for anything super cold because it’s pretty breathable and light. I use it mainly for outdoor climbing when temperatures are a little chilly but nothing crazy. Abrasion resistance is pretty good overs and I’m happy with it.

Zip broke and needed replacing

The zip jammed after I’d only worn this about 10 times. I took the hoody into the store and they fixed it there, but two days later the zip jammed again. So I had to take the hoody into the store again, and they sent it away to replace the zip with a more robust but heavier zip. The hoody came back dirty so now I need to wash it. Plus in the two stores I went into, each time one of the assistants I spoke to didn’t know much about the items in the store. I won’t buy from Arc’teryx again. On the plus side, this product looks nice on me - fits really well.

Great concept, poor execution

While the Konseal line has traditionally been a climbing line, this one feels slightly off the mark. I've been using a delta hoody which I feel is slightly thicker but is warmer and more breathable. This may have some more wind resistance, but I felt like i was overheating and sweating a lot more due to inability of the piece to breathe. The thumb loops are quite big, and I've actually accidentally ended putting my hand/wrist through the loop rather in the actual cuff of the sleeve. If you are looking for a piece that might have a bit more ruggedness/harder face fabric on the rock this might be for you... but I personally feel that the delta is a better piece overall.

Yeah, this piece kinda worries me. Compared to the delta hybrid, this seems like less of a put-on-leave-on layer with the extra windshield coverage and the full zipper. I’m pretty sure I’d overheat during some approaches that I’ve been able to leave the delta hybrid on for. Having the belly area being able to breathe is so beneficial. I think if it’s cold enough to warrant the whole torso being covered, it’s cold enough for a vest or a different layer.
I understand the appeal of a full zip and hand pockets, but I think they make this piece less technical and less suitable for big epic adventures…at least for me.
P.S. To the designers: I miss the fleece inside the hood, which the Delta Hybrid had. It complimented a light and compact headband and effectively buffered the rain. Also, thanks for these great layers. I have three delta hybrids because I hope to wear them for the rest of my life : )

Becoming a “most worn” piece

The perfect jacket. Very versatile. I use for cycling, climbing, around the house, training. The fit is slim. I usually wear small in Arc’teryx, this is a bit more form fitting than other pieces. Personally I prefer it over the Squamish hoody, though it’s quite similar, the Konseal has hand pockets and a more durable outer fabric.

Great feature but uncomfortable shoulder.

I really want to love it. It’s basically an upgraded Delta Hybrid with the new insulation, full zipper for easier on/off, and hand pockets. All the features I want, in one piece, finally.
However, this is also the first Arc that I’m uncomfortable in. The shoulder is weird. When I hold my arms up at chest level and put my hands closer, there is a rather strong restriction feeling on my shoulder blade. It’s tight on the back, especially where the shell material meets the stretchy. The shoulder also bubbled up, indicating fabric tension.
Maybe I got a lemon, and I would love to give it another try because it could be a really really good jacket. Only if I can find my size and color back in stock.

Love this jacket. I wear it for early morning rucks and short bike commutes to work. It’s my go to jacket for cooler morning workouts as well as casual wear. Fit is perfect. I am 6’, 190lbs, 44” chest, 31” waist, large fits well to allow for freedom of movement, with light tee underneath.
