Decent insulating layer

Its a nice design with the full zip and generous cut being very helpful for fitting over other clothes. I have used these for three years under waders when winter steelheading or as a camp layer when backpacking in the winter. They're reasonably warm, but not quite as warm as I had expected. The materials feel cheap and the zippers are nothing special. They are useful but worth about a third what arcteryx is asking.

These pants have a great anatomical fit, As stated by the other reviewer, These pants are not designed to just slip over, They are designed to enter from the legs with the full length zipp down, Once on just zip them up and you have a custom fit that doesn’t slide down, Made with Gore-Tex Infinium they are robust, light weight and comfortable. Oh, and extremely warm

Very warm and robust like the jacket. Durable and light. Fit is as described, waist is a little on the small side I have to enter from the side, I can not slip them easily on or off over my waist. There is no button or waist strap which keeps them light, but if they don't fit perfect, forget about it. The side zippers are not two way and rest at the feet, keeps it nice and light and simple but two way zips would be nice. If I could take half a star off for not having some sort of kick patch or more durable fabric at the ankles i would. Im afraid Im going to rip them with my crampons while belaying and if they had kick patches they could be more comfortably used on the approach. With the alpha insulated pants and jacket I have cut my winter pack size and weight nearly in half without sacrificing comfort or safety.
