Proton Hoody Hombre

This fits me much better than the 2019 version. I like that doesn’t cut into my armpit so much and I can actually get a mid layer under it if I want to. The stitched logos are an improvement to the heat pressed ones. The inside is softer, which makes it more comfortable on the skin, and it still breathes, as well as the older version. Maybe even slightly better The hood still fits great and accommodates A helmet But you’re not gonna be able to get a ski helmet under it. The cuffs are great as per usual as is the drop hem in the back. My only issue with my order is that it was sent without tags from a Chicago store and the pockets are unzipped. I still need to look it over to make sure it hasn’t been pre-worn and that it doesn’t have any holes in it. If I need to return it due to defects and can’t because there’s no tags on it, I’m gonna be very upset! Hopefully, that doesn’t happen.

Jacket is general great very breathelabe and excellent for intensive activities in mountaints etc but technology "No Slip Zip™ " it's a joke unfornutelly ,if this jacket would have better zipper I'll oneslty give it 5/5.

The Proton has quickly become one of my favorite jackets from Arc'teryx. In some ways, the proton feels like a higher end version of the classic Atom jacket (which I love and is still one of my favorites). The material on the proton feels softer than the atom and provides really nice next to skin comfort. It also feels as though it has a little more stretch to it which has been great for climbing. It fits under a harness quite comfortably as well and doesnt pull up when reaching over head. The back side of the jacket hangs a littler lower too which i have found to be nice when wearing a harness. It fits a littler larger than other comparable jackets from Arc but it allows me to layer really comfortably with a fleece underneath like the delta. The proton seems to have a perfect blend of breathability and warmth without much compromise on either end. One seemingly underrated aspect of this jacket is the wrist cuffs. They did a great job adding a wide elastic band in the wrists which tapers well and allows you to slide up the sleeves easily but still creates a good seal at the wrists. The hood also fits well with a helmet on. Lastly, I've been really impressed with the durability of this jacket. I wore it everyday for a week while teaching a climbing course down in Joshua Tree and have zero pulled threads, holes, etc... The terrain down there can be quite unfriendly to clothing but the proton held up just fine. Great work with this garment! For reference, I'm 5'8 145lbs and the small fits very well.

I use this as a heavyweight mid layer splitboarding on days colder than -15C. Any temps warmer than that and I find the jacket way too warm and switch to the LT version. I keep my beacon in a dedicated pant pocket, so having a chest pocket in any jacket for a phone is ideal.

Used it leading a group through Alta Via 8 in late summer/early fall and it performed excellently as a morning chilly layer while getting moving and an evening layer eating outside. Also used it through late season rock climbing when the sun hadn't hit the rock yet. Perfect level of warmth and felt like it worked in a wide temperature range and range of activity. Durability was top notch - no issues with snags or rips through several months of use on rock. Only constructive feedback I'd give is that the recent sizing change made it a bit big and boxy on me. It didn't feel like the typical svelte fit I've come to expect from Arc. For reference, I'm 6' (183cm) and 195lbs (88.5kg) with a 43" (109cm) chest and 34" (86cm) waist...not really slim, not really big, but the medium is too tight and the large is way too big. Everyone's body is shaped different though, so hopefully that helps you find a good fit!

I’ve used this jacket ski touring and ice climbing and I love its versatility. I use it primarily as a mid layer skiing or ice climbing but it also performs well climbing on the skintrack as an outter layer on cold days. The warmth/weight ratio is amazing. Another great feature is the inside fabric they used which is extremely comfortable!

This is my go-to whenever I leave the house. It has a great balance between warmth and breathability which makes it very versatile.

I primarily wear my Proton when I know that I'm going to have an active day, whether that means running errands around the city or doing cold-weather hiking in the Rockies. Since the Proton is temperature regulating, I know that I can wear it and feel warm without getting overheated. For this reason, it's also great on crisp days when the weather is starting to cool down - I wear it everyday in the fall. It fits very well, just as expected. Super versatile jacket that can be enjoyed in any situation!

Similar to my 10 year old Atom LT, except this revised Proton Hoody is a little bit longer from front and backside which is why I bought it. Arms are perfect length and the cuffs are great. Pockets are nice, hand pockets are a little higher than on old Atom LT I think. They have fleece lining on front inner side. Only con is that the hood is a little wide which is meant for helmets and stuff I guess. Who even uses this stuff. Just make it normal. I'd rate the jacket perfect if the hood was normal. It's still great jacket. About sizing: My old Atom LT is Large and on this revised Proton Hoody it's same as Medium. So the sizing has been changed and I recommend to take 1 size smaller. I'm 183cm tall and 80kg in good shape, wide shoulders and the Large Proton that I bought was like Atom LT in XL, so I had to swap to Proton Hoody Medium size.

Great warmth to weight ratio fits well and looks good. Unfortunately, after just a few months of wear around town the nylon shell ripped. I'm not exactly sure how it ripped but it was not through any misuse or improper care. I've been an Arc'teryx fan for many years but this is just one of several products I have bought in the last year that are nowhere near as durable as my older products. The products I have that are older than 5 years are in better shape than the those I have bought in the last year.

Updated design is definitely slightly bagger than my previous 2022 proton jacket with material feeling slightly thinner, not sure if that is because of the insulation switch between the models. Overall, I am still happy with the product, but I wish they would stop making sizing changes.

Love this jacket! Used for climbing, hiking and everyday use. Great all round product.

Seems like a lot of complaining about the new fit. I personally find it spot on. Of course all clothing will have reviews that complain of fit but I'm a bit surprised by some of these for Arc product specifically. The longer sleeve length is a hallmark of their jackets. They've maintained that with the new pattern and its perfect combined with the simple cuff and articulation of the shoulder and armpit. The sleeves are just slightly longer than my 15 year old Atom LT if that's a useful reference. And they are definitely not baggy. No idea where that complaint is coming from. I'm a very 'average' build 6' flat, 185 lbs 'evenly distributed'. The drape (or hand or whatever you call it) of this fabric is also really cool. It's butter soft and moves freely over your baselayers (seemingly without creating a bunch of static. I could be full of it regarding that feature but it seems that way especially compared to the more 'felted' interior of a grid face fabric jacket I wear casually or even compared with my Atom LT though its made more of type A than its original face fabric at this point. Build quality: You know this already but really look at the stitching next time you buy something from Arc. The thread spacing, the parallel stitching...there are no unrulily edges or untucked seam allowances. The quality is just friggin high compared to a lot of the crap out there.

I love the this jacket! The updated fit in 2024 is perfect. This is my go-to jacket for many activities. I use it both as a active insulation mid-layer and a stand-alone jacket. Good warmth and breathability. Love the discrete stitched bird logo on the chest. Don´t like the ArcTeryx word logo on the hood, less is more. Love the Tatsu and the Black colors with no contrasting chest color. Would love to see more colors in the future.

Comfy in colder or warmer weather, feels great on the skin!

Very breathable and fairly warm jacket. Very soft to the touch, feels luxurious. Size M works for me, but cut is slightly too baggy to call it perfect (192cm, 78kg). One issue: The collar is just waay too wide. No wind protection at all when zipped up and hood down. Even with hood up not great.

This has been my go jacket for most of my activities in colder weather. This jacket is always the first thing I pack when traveling for hiking and climbing adventures. The jacket breathes well while exerting yourself. Sweat moves through the jacket and evaporates quickly. It provides plenty of warmth even when wet. It remains remarkably warm while static, and I'll usually pair it with my Squamish Hoody or a hard shell jacket when the wind is really blowing or its extra cold. The cuffs are really unique and keeps the sleeves in place. The pockets sit high enough to still access with a harness on and the chest pocket comes in handy for quick access to maps, hand warmers, and anything I might need access to in a pinch. The hood can fit well over or under a climbing helmet and does a great job of cinching down to keep cold air from creeping in. The only thing I would change about this jacket would be a slightly longer bottom hem. I have never had an issue with it coming out from under my climbing harness, but an inch or two would be ideal for me and my body type. I got a medium sized jacket and it fits a bit snug, but a large is too baggy for me. It still does not restrict movement and doesn't interfere with climbing. Overall I have really enjoyed this jacket and it is a great all around jacket for most of my adventures. It has shown no signs of wear and tear despite the many miles and pitches I have put it through. It'll continue to to be my go to jackets for years to come. One of the best pieces of gear Arc'teryx makes in my opinion.

Great shoulder-season jacket. Used for hiking, bike commute and throwing on when I need a bit more warmth than a hoody. Yes it's expensive but I recently packed it in my carry on for a trip to Europe; it packs down really small, it's very light weight and it was perfect for this time of year (Sept/Oct). It provides minimal water resistance but I got caught in a few rain showers and it held up fine. Overall very happy with it so far. Dropped one star for 'value' rating. If I get more use of it through the winter months then I'll revise it up to 5 stars.

Most comfortable daily wear jacket I have. It's soft, warm, and breathable. I bought it to wear under a shell for skiing, but have not had a chance to use it for that use case. In the meantime, I wear it almost everyday, when I expected to just keep it in my closet until ski season. The fit isn't as flattering as my other Arcteryx stuff. Not sure if it's because of the puffiness, but I wear it a lot in spite of that. I do wish they made a non-hoody version. I tried the Atom, but the Proton is superior in terms of insulation and feel.

There is nothing revised about this Proton at all. It’s the same 2019 product just more expensive. Second, I live in Florida and only use this Jacket during the winter when traveling north for work. I’ve maybe worn it a total of 8 times in 10 months. The logos which are smaller are already falling off or are totally faded. This is not the case with my 2019 jacket. Don’t buy.

I wear it when hiking, it is very comfortable and soft, love the design and color of this jacket
