Sabre Insulated Pant Men's

I was really looking forward to the stratus blue ski pants. However, when they came in, I was very disappointed for several reasons. First of all in lieu of having a zipper closure at the bottom of the pants to accommodate for boots, they made the bottoms from the knee down super wide almost like bellbottoms didn’t feel or look right. Next the closures at the waist were not very good. The horizontal pickets at top were awkward The belt was very cheaply done and not easy to open and the snaps at the top of the pants hardly stayed closed. It was too bad. I really liked the color, but had to return them.

I think it needs to be revised for this coming season. Garment cut is tight in the crotch and they need to introduce a tall option like the Sabre bib and non-insulated Sabre Pants. I would love to see a Medium - Tall to match my other sabre bibs and pants.

I ordered the medium. I am 1.80 cms and weight 78kgs so medium normally fits me very well. These pants have a very odd fit. They are supper baggy on the bottom and legs. I tried to exchange them for a small but because the 30-day period had passed they did not allow me to send them back. Now I ended with a £500 pair of pants that I look ridiculous in them.

I agree with previous posts, the fit cuts off any circulation to your unmentionables! I ordered a medium which apparently fits 34”, not so…. Unfortunately the large is 37” so no go for me. Love Arcteryx gear so hopefully they will revise again!

I rolled the dice on these and was pleasantly surprised. Last year I ordered (and returned) 3 pair of the uninsulated Sabre pants in different sizes due to the fact that (as noted in those reviews) none of them fit quite right. I’m 6’3 with a 230lbs, with a 34” inseam and the XL, XLT and XXL fit like my nuts were in a vice grip. The XL’s were tiny, the XXL’s were balloon pants and while the XLT’s came close, I couldn’t do a full squat without feeling like I was gonna rip right through those puppies. Not the feeling I want in a $700 pair of pants in the middle of a tree run. Fast forward to this year and I was still on the market. I took a chance on these insulated ones in an XL after the Arc’teryx customer service folks informed me that these were cut a little bigger. Sure enough the pants showed up and fit perfectly, even with a layer underneath. I almost threw in the towel in Arcteryx ski pants, but these insulated Sabre pants are perfect for me. Weird how different they fit from the non insulated ones, but I’m a happy camper now and these are keepers.

Arcteryx has been my go to ski gear since 2010. I purchased a pair of Micon Pants (Insulated) in 2012 and these pants are hands down the best ski pants I have ever owned. They were expensive but the investment has paid off as the pants have lasted an incredible 11 seasons. It is unfortunately time to replace them and I was excited to see the Sabre Pant offered in an insulated version. I ski primarily in the Northern Rockies and Canada and the integral insulation has been something I really liked in the Micon Pant. The 2012 Micon Pant is a 3-Layer Gore-Tex Pro Pant with Coreloft insulation and a heavyweight N155p face fabric. I knew that the Sabre Insulated Pant is a 2-Layer Gore-Tex Pant with a N80p-X face fabric but thought I would go ahead and try them knowing they would not be as durable as the Micon Pant, however once I received the pant I was really surprised at how thin and fragile the 2 layer fabric felt. The pants also have an odd fit. For me the Micon Pants fit perfect. The Sabre Pants were really tight in the hips and the thigh but have an excessive amount of material in the seat. I unfortunately don't think that there is a current offering from Arcteryx to match the Micon Pant so I will be looking elsewhere to find the durability I have come to expect for an investment in premium gear.
