Fit + Material + Durability = Long-Term Comfort

As I may have mentioned in a previous review for this website, Arc'teryx seems to be one of the few brands (if not the one) that truly "gets" my body type, which, I'd like to think, is rather average (and certainly not one of a professional outdoor athlete, far from it). In other words, the fit, especially the length (long inseam), is perfect, especially in combination with the material used, which allows for a wide range of movements, among other benefits. I should not that I have yet to use these pants for its intended purpose, that is, bouldering (inside or in the gym), but I expect it would confirm this impression. (I will test it soon.) It certainly performs well in my daily life (knowledge work involving a bike commute all year round), and it is not too casual for my line of work. It reminds me of a pair of Gamut pants that I used for several years starting around 2005, 2006, which also quickly became my go-to, do everything pants. They held up really well, and I assume this will also be the case for these pants. They are, clearly, not cheap, but then again, if used they way I use them, these costs will be offset by the experience of happy ownership and greal pants for years to come.

Great pant all round with a caveat

These pants are super comfy and airy. Perfectly cut for comfort and articulation. I’ve got 3 pairs, 2 cotton and 1 synthetic. They have been used all over the western rockies to hike, scramble and climb mountains for which they are great - there is a but coming though … both of the cotton pairs (black and Tatsu) have severely faded after only a few washes and months of use (not acceptable). They almost have an orange like tinge to them as if they’ve been bleached (they haven’t). It has kinda ruined the whole look of the pant for me and it’s insanely disappointing to have such poor quality. An older comment about the pants holding onto stains is also very accurate - don’t cook oil or fat with them on!!

bad product, bad customer service

2 weeks in with 3 pin holes from everyday use. got in touch with arcteryx about the issue, told me that there wasnt anything they could do. very disapointed and a completely diffrent company to what they were a few years ago. Seem to have sold themselfs out

Needs improvement

The Cronin pants are very solidly constructed and have a nice, clean, easy fit appearance. There are some drawbacks. I suspect that most buyers of these pants have never inched up a rock face and wear them for their look and comfort (include me in that camp). The material seems to be highly abrasive resistant with a tight weave that while ideal for rock climbing makes them resistant to cleaning; i.e., they hold stains that are difficult to remove even for something as innocuous as a drop of cooking oil. I have had to spot spray them and wash more than once to remove stains so you've been forewarned. Also, the zip pockets on the sides are too small for a passport so they don't make for ideal traveling pants either. Back to the drawing board! (And better colors, please.)

While they aren't optimized for travel or performance cleaning, we appreciate your feedback on stain resistance and pocket sizing—it’s helpful as we continue refining our everyday apparel. As an alternative, we recommend looking at our Levon line. We have, however, shared your comments with our team for consideration.

This comment is nuts. Arcteryx is supposed to be a climbing brand and their climbing-specific selection has already shrinked to a handful of models in favor of versions designed for city life. These pants have been designed for climbing, and thus they need to be abrasion resistant and the thigh pocket should barely fit a cellphone so that it doesn't move around inside the pocket while you're climbing. Please go purchase Kalvin Clein and Levi's and complain with them that their pants aren't stretchy enough for climbing

Favorite Pants

My favorite camp/casual pants I own. Look great with an oversized tee, or if you roll up slightly to show some ankle meat. I sized down to a 30. I normally wear a 32, but the Cronin 32 was too large for me.

Great fit and super comfortable

Love these. Bought them in the olive colour too. They’re super comfortable, practical with a couple of useful pockets, although the zip pocket could be a bit bigger to be honest. They look great with anything !
