After seeing it on a YouTube video I finally thought I found the perfect lightweight long sleeve. Thumb holes, awesome hood that covers the whole neck and a lot of the face. Awesome color and fit. However they must have used the worst possible thread for stitching, as soon as I go to put it on I hear multiple threads pop. I sit there thinking how I just managed to pop 2 different sections of thread, took sealant and put it around the affected area, all good. Few days later go to put it on again, and another section of stitching decides to pop again. At $90 I shouldn’t have issues like this, considering the $20 columbias don’t have the same issue. This happened from a simple test fit and light wearing, i think after a weekend of hard use this thing would be toast.

My son finally received his late Christmas present and is very happy with the hoody. He does a lot of running and biking in CA and this hoody will give him some sun protection.

I have two other Cormac Sun Hoody's from Arcteryx, bought one in 2020 and 2022, both are different models and the hood/shoulder construction on the first one purchased is noticeably better, a more substantial collar and hood/slight visor, the shoulder panel as opposed to one stich on the front of the shoulder. But, both have the thumb loops as opposed to the thumb holes in the sleeves. As a tall in shape person this was the best sun shirt I had found, used these primarily for backpacking and fishing. I had always bought the XL and loved the fit, not too much fabric in the body and the arms do not stretch much at the shoulder/armpit when I am using the thumb Loops. The change to the thumb hole on this most model makes it fit worse when using the thumb holes, the sleeves stretch at the shoulder/armpit. I do not want to go to a 2XL because there is already enough body length and room in the chest/stomach, any more would feel excessively baggy and it feels like the body length and chest width on the most recent model have increased. For well proportioned tall people the design/sizing of this shirt is moving in the wrong direction, I am going to keep the new one I just bought but will be looking else where in the future. The current model does not have the slight visor on the hood, the single shoulder stich and the exterior stitching that looks like it will be prone to fraying. It’s my third one. I use it in multipitch climbing in Verdon, in ski touring and alpinisme !

I love these sun shirts! I spend a lot of time climbing on sunny south faces in the Canadian Rockies in the spring and summer. Putting sunscreen on your hands halfway through a big multipitch climb sucks, so I have shifted to wearing a sun shirt. These are light and airy so I do not heat up too much even with the sleeves down and hood up. They also hold up decently well through the face climbing terrain I frequent. Great option to keep the sun off when you are out there all day long!

I have 4 original (?) Cormac shirts which I wear regularly in cool weather and 1 original sun hoody I've been wearing more often recently. My wife liked the hoody, so we just ordered one for her. Although the overall shape is similar, the changes are many. The biggest is the fabric - it's lighter and you can see through it a bit easier - an issue for my wife. The lighter fabric may also be less durable. Lastly, the shirt is not as classy - seen in the sewing around the hood (properly wide before) and under the arms (no longer a smooth finish). Your may still like the new shirt, but it has lost its magic for me. In hindsight, it perhaps deserved a new name.

I've always been a fan of the cormacs and I have several of the tee shirt version that I have been wearing daily for around 8 years. I needed some new long sleeve sunshirts for running, hiking, climbing etc, so I picked up a few of these. I have tried sunshirts from several brands and have some older Arc'teryx ones, but the Cormac hoody absolutely beats out anything I've tried. For this being upf 50, it's a similar lightness to the upf 15 shirts I've tried. It blocks wind, but breathes. It's super comfortable, doesn't make you overheat, and is the best sunshirt I've ever owned. Highly recommended.

I have a Cormac hoody from a past season and wanted another. Love the new fabric and the redesigned thumbholes of the new offering. The new hoody is more comfortable and, ostensibly, more breathable compared to my older shirt. I’m somewhat between sizes L/XL and find the XL is a better fit for me (195#, 6’, XL shoulders are perfect). The sleeves feel long but are also perfect when using the thumbholes. Love these hoodys.

I bought the large and XL. The quality is outstanding, the length of the large is fine, however it is cut very tight across the shoulders and upper chest, so if you have broad shoulders, 180lbs etc this will look very 'fitted' on you - think cycling shirt! Conversely, the XL is just about right across the shoulders but is far to long in the body and arms. I suspect the garment is cut for a more narrower frame across the shoulders, more for a slender, Asian build, as opposed to a broader European frame. I've returned both, which is sad as I like the garment.

This is my favorite Arcteryx fabric and I love the cut and breathability of this piece. The neck on the hoodie is awesome and the sleeves are long enough and have great stealth thumb loops. I wear it for everything (running, hiking, biking, a day at the beach, as a winter base layer, etc.). If I had to go all Steve Jobs and only wear one thing it would be this shirt. I wish it came in more colors.

My go to travel hoodie, love this especially for traveling in flights. The material is incredibly soft and cozy!

Added this new Cormac Hoody to replaced a previous model that I bought over 3 years ago.

This 2023 Cormac Men's hoody is very comfortable. I'm 5' 9", 180 lbs, and the small fits with room to spare. For comparison's sake, I'm a medium in a 2021 Motus long sleeve top and it's more fitted than this 2023 Cormac hoody. I'm typically a medium in everything I've gotten from Arc'teryx over the past 12 years from jackets to hoodies, but I sized down to a small for this Cormac hoody. I believe this online hoody got shipped from BC; surprisingly it arrived dirty on the inside. Hopefully, this is the first and last time that happens with an online order. I've attached a photo, I don't know if it posted.

this men's sun shirt does not come in XS. I am 5' 6 130lb with a 36" chest. At first I worried size Small sleeves are just going to be too long. they actually turned out to be just fine, shoulders fall in the right place and overall, they fit really quite nicely

Bought in June 22 and worn on numerous day/weekend hikes in the Scottish highlands since, first impressions were very favourable, its so comfy with a great loose ish fit. Only 5 minutes or so with a pack off and any wet back sweat dries. Slightly heavier (mere grams) than a couple of my other sun hoodies, but that's easily negated by the better and more comfortable fit/material/cut I recently wore it for 12 days solid on the Everest Base Camp Trek, it was an excellent choice, the sun at 12000/17000 feet was fierce and I used the hood every day, it's nice and roomy and allowed air to circulate around my head just fine and best of all, no rancid sweat smell. It also teams perfectly with the Squamish when the wind gets a bite to it. Now if Arcteryx would release another couple in light/pastel/brighter colours I would definitely buy a couple more, but as it is, dark tops just don't do it for me

wear it very often for the day hiking, you feel very cool when wearing it. Besides, sunblock for sure!

Fabric is soft, breathable, and offers UV resistance to keep me shielded from the strong Colorado sun.

Bought one a couple months ago for summer hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and, after first use, bought another one. Fabric is comfortable, light, and cooling. SPF is valuable. Used in hikes with variable temps from bottom to top in the snow, and kept me cool enough and warm enough on the same long hike. It's now my go to shirt practically anywhere I go!

Bought it a few months ago, it’s been all over Yosemite Valley, high and low! Always keeps me cool and in the shade when up on the walls

Just finished 7 days on the West Coast Trail and brought this as my main layer - was perfect in the sun, wicked sweat nicely and was super comfortable. Will pick up another one in another colour!

Keeps me warm when its a bit chilly out, keeps me cool when its hot out. Wore this over 30 days this season and have no complaints. The hood is a nice touch and keeps me in the shade all year. Not sure why the thumb loops are there, never used those.

This is an excellent sun hoody for all-around use, especially as a base layer in fall, active winter pursuits, and spring. Any days up to in the 70s or around 80. Above that, I found it to be a bit thicker and stuffier than some other sun hoodies I own. It's not the best piece for paddle sports, fishing, or really hot days when you're looking for something that will protect you from the worst heat/sun. But if it were overly light, it probably wouldn't be as useful as a mountain sun hoody, which is how I'd categorize it. If you're up on rock, ice, or snow in the mountains, this is your piece. The bulgy neck fabric I found to be not as much my style. if Arc'teryx made an even lighter hoody geared toward paddlers/fishermen to compete with other brands, I think it would be well-received and complement this piece nicely.

I have worn this piece 5 times in 2 weeks, super light sun protection and washes well. Wore three days in a row and no funky smell. The material is light but durable. The hood is effective and un-noticeable during action, easily fits over hat. I am 6’3”, 220 and fits athletically but allows movement. XL
