Sizing and Pricing Problems

This pant has two web addresses on the site (same "model number") - one is offered at $600 , the other is $500. This is very strange and creates distrust for the customer. Also, having a Large tall and no XL tall does not make sense, especially with a relatively small waist measurement for Large Tall. The sizing is all over the place - 3 inch difference in tall versus regular inseam length, 3.5 inch difference in waist between Large Tall and regular XL. Pls provide options for tall people that can work.

Thank you - that's odd b/c I got to the $600 page by clicking through my US order in an effort to do a size exchange. I couldn't tell that it was Canadian, even after calling customer service, but appreciate the explanation of that discrepancy. Also, the inventory seems different between the two and couldn't get any help on the phone with that either. Will try calling back to see if I can get a different size in the color I need.

Nice but sizing issues.

A well made product with features that i like (zips that finish below the waist band and a thigh pocket) but i wonder about waist sizing options. Waist sizes go 27", 29", 31" et.c., and then jump to a 34" (nominal). I went for 34" but they swamp me and measure closer to 35". I returned. I then went for 31" but that was too tight. The 3" step up from 31" to 34" is too much of a jump and i expect that there is a significant customer group that is also somewhere between 31" and 34". It's odd to not make an actual 33" and then an actual 35". Perhaps Arc should standardise its entire pants range to either 2" step ups in waist size in even numbers (...30", 32", 34", ...et.c.) or in odd numbers (...29", 31", 33",... et.c.). Then we know where we are for sizing and waist fit across the entire pants range. Less guess work required that way.
I'm now waiting for a delivery of the Alpha Pant in a 32" waist. Not really the features i want but i'll see if i can make them work. It's a process :)!

Great pant but room for improvement.

I really like these pants, they are comfy, provide great wind and rain protection, the zipper on the bottom is nice for larger boots. Couple things I would like to see in these pants is a hook on the draw string down on the bottom of the boot. I wore these the other day in quite deep snow and when I fell through the draw string wasn't enough to hold the inside lining down and ended up getting snow in the top of my boot. Also wouldn't hurt to have an extra pocket or two. Great pant but room for improvement.

Useless to me in the field

I bought these May of 2023 and have carried them on more than 30 trips. And I've worn them twice. One thing keeps me from wearing these: you have take off all footwear except for your socks to get them on. I can't even get them on over a pair of trail runners, much less my mountaineering boots. And any pair of pants I can't get on I might as well leave at home, especially a hardshell as I'm not going to put them on first thing except in the absolute worst of weather. For this reason alone I feel these were the biggest waste of money I've ever spent on a piece of gear, much less a $500 piece of gear. I've since ordered hard shell pants from a different manufacturer with full zips and now I have to sell the Beta AR pants for probably less than half what I paid new. I am very upset with these pants.
Aside form all that, they work great - excellent water and wind resistance breathable.And I love that they come in short.

Terrible experience

I bought it two weeks ago and now I don’t even receive it. UPS and Arc’teryx are so irresponsible. I don’t know when I will receive my pant or my claim. As I don’t even receive this pant, arc’teryx now wants me to give a review, so funny.

The pants were designed with N80d Most Rugged 3L GORE-TEX PRO to keep you dry in a wide variety of activities. We recommend washing and reapplying DWR on your pants to reactivate the waterproofing. If your garment looks or feels dirty or is no longer beading water, give it a wash. With Heavy use (e.g. heavy activity) – wash every 5 to 8 days of use. With Light use (e.g. day to day) – wash every 10 to 20 days of use. Sturdy, well made and worth the money

I went with 32R Black (I am 182cm, 72kg)
The pants fits nice and well, sits a little higher than a "normal" pair off pants, which makes it comfortabel if your wearing regular pants with a belt under. Combined with the Alpha AR, i feel secure from the weather and the peaces does well in combination.
Beta AR feels sturdy, especially the bottom part. There is clearly room for skiingboots, which is an upside when putting on the pants with boots on.
Would be nice if there was a cord for the "shoeattachment" included.
The colour on the knees is a little touchy, when its comming in touch with rocks and alike.
All in all, very happy woth the purchase.

Yes, you are right! I had a pair of Alpha AR that went in for a minor repair, snap at waist, and they were lost. They had suspenders, and full side zips. Nothing has come close to what I had.
I’m sitting on a voucher in the hope that Arc’teryx produces a similar pant that includes those 2 features. Its been 18 months.
Don’t get me wrong, their gear is great and you can’t beat the warranty!

A lot of reviews below me people were not stoked with the pants. My biggest crutch with them is there are no pockets. I had to return them because they were too long and I ordered 34 R at 6 feet 190 I figured that would be fine. Overall the pants are nice, great material and they will definitely keep you dry. Just didn’t like the no pockets (I should have known this prior so no fault to Arc’teryx.

Bring back the 75% side zippers

I have an older pair of the Beta AR pants that I use for Alpine skiing both on piste and some back country hiking.
I wanted to buy a replacement (new) pair for my old units which are wearing out. I saw the new pants in a local shop and was bummed out that you replaced the 75% side zippers with a thigh vent and boot zipper. This change is deal breaker. This new version is NOT easy for on and off while keeping ski boots or snow boots on.....a must for in the ski lodge or parking lot or backcountry. These pants do NOT fit over boots anymore. Sorry Arc'teryx but please go back to the 75% side zippers. Old reliable pair gets 5 stars. New design gets 1 star.

Arcteryx, please stop responding with the same generic answer for every constructive feedback you get. A company of your size and reputation should do better than that.
The recent years you have removed key features on several of your shell pants, as well as discontinuing favorites as the Beta SV pant and jacket. Why?

Everything feels top-notch on these pants! Bought them to keep me dry on long backcountry hunting trips and alpine pursuits, excels at both. The thigh pocket is a great feature (fits a phone/map and compas). The fit makes it easy to move. Wear long socks, the instep guard can rub on your shins in low-top boots :)

Marvellous pant. Only issue I had was finding suspenders for these things as they aren’t supplied by Arc’teryx. However for the guys looking for some I’ve found Jöttnar AX-Braces are perfect for these trousers

I’d hoped for better

I bought these to replace my old winter climbing over trousers but unfortunately had to return. I found the fit very awkward, size medium the waist fit well but was very tight over the upper thigh and the large was too baggy at the waist and the thigh. The trousers came with thigh vents but unfortunately no full length side zips. I wasn’t able to put these on/take off over a pair of alpine/ice climbing boots. The trousers include attachment points for suspenders but these are not included.

Good after some weeks in use

I've not had these on for too many times for the review, but here goes; overall, I was pleased how high the waist comes up - I am using these for skiing and general outdoor activities in winter and I was afraid that snow gets in. That hasn't been a problem so far. The waist does get a little tight here and there, though. The legs also open enough over ski boots, so all in all, these are pretty nice.

I ordered a size large with a short inseam

What I received was delivered only to find out that it was mis-labeled. Had to return it because it was a regular inseam length. I've tried Customer Service for some satisfaction. I would have paid more for the Professional use gear.....but nooooo. You have lost me as a customer!

Weird sizing - great pants

I've been wearing the original sized pants for about a year and I can see why they had to revise. Normally I wear a medium in these but they were really tight around the waist/groin. It's hard to wear a baselayer underneath. Hopefully these sizing updates fix it.

2nd pair of AR Ski pants

The snow cuffs in my previous pair fell out on my last ski trip. Estimated days over 5 years is about 30 ski days. I ordered another pair, as they fit well and keep me dry and warm. The boot cuffs on the new pair have been improved substantially. Arc'teryx has only one pocket for the pants. There used to be a small pocket at the right top that carried a credit card, cash and ID that is no longer in the new design. I might add that I ONLY wear Arc'teryx casual clothing and exercise wear. They are comfortable, suitable for all seasons and fit perfect.

Great pant, but why no suspenders…???

I ordered the Beta ar pant but to my surprise there were no suspenders included like on the women style pant?!
This is a real disappointment for a pair of “action/do it all” kind of pant for that amount of money…
The strangest thing of all is that there are 3 built-in attachment points for the suspenders in the pants, but it's not even possible to buy the suspenders separately on your website?
I can't see any reason for this other than that Arc'teryx has taken the opportunity to save some money by not including the suspenders for the men's model?
Another thing that has me scratching my head is that the hook to anchor the pant in the shoelaces has been removed for the new model as well?
But other than that, the pant is really versatile and a good match with my Alpha Sv jacket.

No longer a ski pant - WHY?

These pants no longer have a built in gator and are not suitable for backcountry skiing - WHY?? I have had 2 Pairs of Beta AR pants and have worn them each for approximately 500 days of skiing. These were the best ski pants on the market - they had excellent fit, durability, lightweight, good features, superb articulation etc. Why did you stop making them for skiing? The Sabre Pants are not the same thing - they are much heavier and have very poor articulation. Missing the old pants!!
