Despite what all the haters say about the new iteration of the Skyline, it is truly amazing. It is so versatile. Since the Pandemic, I have been living in these shirts. I have 5 black long sleeves and have noticed this shirt has accidentally become my personal uniform. I bought them in Nocturnus and Hypnosis, to add a bit of variety. The only way they can improve this shirt is to completely remove the zipper pocket.

Seems like Arc’ don’t want to listen to customers’ comments regarding the dissatisfaction over the ugly zipped chest pocket. Very sad to see this as i would overwise buy a couple more of these shirts if they had the previous flap pocket style.

Hi, I'm Mitch, the recipient of the shirt reviewed here by my wife. I requested the light color in order to minimize heat absorption from the sun. I already own this shirt in another color, which has proven far sturdier than it looks. In a regular medium size, the shirt weighs in at a little over six and half ounces. Despite the light weight, it's very good at blocking biting insects and excellent sun protection. It has a very soft feel and is very comfortable under a hip belt. These qualities make it a great backpacking shirt. Add to all this the zipper pocket, which provides a secure and convenient place to store my camera! I see some other reviewers complain about the zipper pocket, but those folks could just buy virtually any other shirt to avoid the zipper. The zipper pocket is a rarity and highly useful. It's easier to operate than a velcro closure, and there's no velcro hook to cling to camera straps, lanyards, and such. I've been wearing one of these shirts on every backpacking trip for several years, often opening and closing the pocket over a hundred times per trip, and it still works great! And you won't not lose whatever you zip into that pocket, even in a tumble.

Love the Skyline Shirt

I own three of these shirts in black, I like how lightweight they are for wearing black in summer. I also like that you can kind of be dressed up without the worry of getting a little dirty in the hills if you want to. I very much like the zipper pocket, it keeps things in and I like the way it looks.

Great material. Odd pocket.

This shirt is incredibly comfortable. The material breathes well and dries quickly. It is Almost the perfect shirt for daily where in any setting. The ONE GLARING design flaw is that zippered pocket. It’s odd. I don’t know that a pocket serves any realistic purpose anyhow, and WHY add a zipper? In my opinion, Lose the pocket entirely and let the design be free. An Athletic cut would also be nice, since this material is perfect for it.

Please lose the zipper

I own several earlier incarnations of this shirt. The fabric is suberb. It's too bad that this version is marred by a zipper. I did buy one of these, and wear it at home and on the trail, but not to the office or out to dinner, as I was able to with the earlier versions.

Remove the zipper and please make a white one

I own six of these shirts, the previous iteration being perfect for office casual, travel and just about anything else. Did I say how much I loved the previous version of this shirt? This new version is ugly with the zipper and the logo. Please go back to the previous version, and I’d love to see a version in white.

Satisfy everyone and make the zipper hidden behind a real front pocket. (e.g. like Clothing Arts shirts). Then you can use is as a security pocket and a regular pocket..

Literally the best shirt I have ever bought. Great for semi-casual wear and very good for outdoor activities, things like that. I am in the construction industry and I find them super comfortable in the heat of the day and still very comfortable to wear in the spring or fall. Great because I can wear them in the office and not be too hot in cooler months. Very light weight no wrinkles

Previous version Was a great all around shirt for travel, office, and leisure. Even Worked under a lite sport coat. The zipper cheapens the image and reduces the range of use.

Older model was perfect!

I owned the older model of this shirt for a few years, and it was the best hiking shirt I have ever owned! Fits a skinny guy with long arms perfectly, has unlimited freedom of movement, sleeves roll up nicely and stay up, buttons are ssoooooooo easy to use. Talk about the fit - finally no folding of extra fabric around the hip under the hipbelt, and absolutely no chafing at the seams! The material was cool on hot days, but also blocked just enough wind on cooler mornings too. The small pocket was perfect to stow away my earplugs. No need to hassle with a button, snap or a zipper, until.... the redesign. I absolutely used to love this pocket for its ease of use and tidy look, but now it is the only small detail that has so big disadvantages that I no longer will be buying the shirt, no matter how perfect the fit otherwise. The zipper will catch on to the plugs, you need to pull on the pull which pulls the fabric and you need to pull it more because of the stretch. It also is in the way of backpack straps and it pops out from the shirt from afar. No longer cityproof, this shirt went over the line to the tech look. Some have pointed out a slight pilling issue, and it definitely was there. I had some under my shoulder straps and on the back of the hipbelt with some small permanen wrinkles. I think that is more due to the immense abuse I put this shirt through. I would buy another one of these instantly, if I found a size S in one of the lighter colors. I really wish I had got the pegasus color as a spare shirt. Didn't see a redesign coming.

great all around shirt for california

awesome overshirt! its great as a stand alone shirt when very hot or can be worn normally. breaths great, is light, dries fast and i am a huge fan of the new button snaps vs the old silver ones. i would love to see a version 3 with all of the features of this second iteration with the only change beingthe zip pocket being replaced with the old flap pocket gen 1 had.

Awesome shirt with slightly weird sizing

I'm 190cm (6ft 3) tall and a sturdy benchpressing 105kg (230lbs). According to the sizing chart, I'm *exactly* an XL for chest (most important fit for a shirt), an L for arm length and between L and XL for waist. I do frequent the gym and lift quite substantial weights, but like most 40+ men I have some belly as well I'm too wide over the chest to fit in large, but armlength and hemlength of the XL is a bit too long. This isn't really the case with outer layers (I also have Cerium LT and Proton LT, both in XL), or at least not as noticeable, but on this shirt it really shows. I think the problem is that Arc'teryx ups measurements as if XL was proportionately larger than L in every dimension, when the more common case is that arms and height is roughly the same, shoulder width is a few cm larger and chest circumference is quite drastically larger. Because the shoulder width doesn't increase as drastically as the chest circumference when one bulks up (and height obviously doesn't change at all), the shirt shoulders end up a tiny bit wide and the arms and hem end up a little too long, or one has to size down and risk unsnapping the buttons when moving. For reference the space between the top two buttons only slightly "bend apart" but without any real pressure when I put my hands behind my back. This is the test I normally use to make sure a shirt has enough chest room for me not to lose buttons when I sit down and pull my chair in. There are more guys between 185 and 195cm that have the same bodyshape as me than there are guys 2m tall and slim-ish, so I would really like to see arc'teryx change how they do proportions when sizing up. As a sidenote, I think people with wide chest and shoulders would prefer a shirt that's a teensy bit tight (within reason, ofcourse) than one that hangs a little too loose.

As I’ve come to thoroughly expect from Arc’teryx, this shirt is freakin awesome. Similar material to their Remige sun shirts and hoodies. Lightweight and breathable, I look like Indiana Jones and I feel like a Rockstar. I’m a slimmer build and their tailored performance fit is a difference maker for me. Overall, a great option for both urban and outdoor use.

Works for me

I choose Arcteryx clothing for comfort and performance. Wifely likes to advise on fit and color - after all she look's at me more than anyone else and also does not want to be embarrassed by my appearance (ha ha ha - true!). This shirt has met all criteria very nicely. Preferring a smooth/flat profile I rarely use a shirt pocket. But when I do, it's usually for easy access to a small important item like tickets, parking passes, receipts, credit card...without worry about them folding in my pants pocket. Consequently, I like a zipper as it provides more security - both from falling out and from pickpockets (IMO). At work, I'm evaluated by colleagues and clients on performance, not appearance If anyone suggested my Arcteryx shirt was inappropriate for business, I'd question their priorities and/or suspect they were secretly envious. If I need to dress up, the shirt looks great under a blazer. The zipper is largely hidden, color coordinated, and the zipper tab is handy to clip a temporary ID to which meets government security visibility requirements. So far, so good! Please understand this is just my opinion based on my experience. I am not telling anyone else what to do or how to think.

Looks like I will have to find a new work shirt since the addition of the contrast zipper that was added. Really disappointing. The whole allure of this shirt was that it was professional, sharp, breathable, stretchy, mostly iron free, and perfect for a sports minded business professional.

Zipper is a deal-breaker

I was choosing between Elaho and Skyline for a shirt that can fit both hiking and daily casual dressing. I chose Skyline because the Elaho has zippers and looks more like a hiking-only shirt. The Skyline shirt performs excellent, it's trendy, super breathable, and also comfortable. When I tried to order a 3rd one with a different colour. I couldn't believe my eyes. The Skyline has become Elaho-ish, it's not trendy, posh anymore due to the zipper. I definitely believe the new version is still super breathable and comfortable, but sorry, I love Skyline because it had no zipper and low-profile, so I can wear it in a daily basis without a hiking look. I hope the zipper will be removed in the next version, I will come back and buy it again.

I purchased the previous version of this shirt and have been absolutely in love with it. It's stylish, modern, and nice enough to wear in a business setting while still being comfortable enough to wear on the trail or traveling. I came to purchase a few more colors when I noticed the new zipper, which was a deal breaker for me. I browsed the reviews and saw that the previous version was still available via a reply on another comment and snagged a few extra.

Nicer fit than previous version

I'm new to the Skyline shirt and ordered both the new one, and the previous revision in black. The new revision was for me a slightly tighter, better fit. While the zipper on the pocket looks a bit out of place, I think it's better than the cheesy 'polygon' look of the previous revision. I won't use the pocket anyway, so for me it would be fine as is, but as an open pocket without the zipper. The new plastic buttons feel lighter, and a whole lot safer to use, with no fear of tearing anything. You can easily undo the buttons by just pulling the shirt open (It's oddly satisfying!). It's also great that the buttons are now black, so if they show, they don't visually stand out.

Bad idea to add the zipper

I have the older version and was hoping to buy it in a different color. I dislike the zipper in this new version so much that I will not buy it. It ruined the shirt. Please bring back the old design. Furthermore, please add a few more colors (maybe something in the burgundy range?). And please consider removing the logo from the back because like the shirt a lot and I wear it in casual every day situations. The shirt looks so good (the old version, not the current one with the zipper) that you don't need a logo. People will ask for the brand. Minor comment for the old version, for me, size S, the sleeves were a bit long. Looking forward to you going back to the old version.

Almost a perfect shirt...

I wanted to give this shirt a 4.5, but rounded up to 5. It would be perfect if they changed it to a tapered athletic fit. It flairs out too much at the wait/hips and arms. Otherwise, It is one of the most comfortable shirts I own.

I love this new revision, zip or not!

I bought my first SKyline shirt over four or five years ago. I now own five short sleeves and seven long sleeves Skyline shirts. I wear them primarily for work. I love them so much that I regularly wear them for a night on the town. I work for a large software company as a technical sales specialist and deal with Fortune 500 companies. I have no hesitation in wearing my Skyline shirts while visiting my customers, and I even wear them with a suit as never wear a tie. Regularly, I check to see if Arc'teryx has come out with new colors, and when they do, without hesitation, I buy another one. So, I just purchased both a short sleeve and a long sleeve Skyline shirts with the zip! Yes, I read all the one star ratings about the zip. I do not mind the zip at all, and I WILL wear my new Skyline shirts without any hesitation or shame. The zip is not the only change. Arc'teryx also changed the snaps, which are now bigger and made of some plastic. I am happy with this change as they are now much easier to unsnap. With the previous, slimmer model, I am always afraid to tear the shirt while unsnapping them. Time will tell, but so far, I am happy with the new snaps. Overall, the fit is similar to previous years. My only gripe is the lack of colors with the long sleeves - e.g., red, a vivid green, but it is not a big deal. I would give ten stars if I could. I love them, zip or not!!!

Probably the best shirt I've ever owned, until they changed the design

I bought this shirt before spending 2 years backpacking through Asia and out of all the top quality gear I bought before hand, this shirt has lasted the longest and consistently looked the best for the last 4 years. Whether climbing a mountain, spending 8 hours on a bus, or going out to the club for the night, this shirt keep me comfortable and looking good. And the compliments, every time I put the shirt on I got compliments. I just started searching for a few more as I will be traveling again, and I am VERY disappointing that the pocket is now a zipper. This cuts the use case for this shirt in half. Now the style moved from flexible to technical, which is not what I'm looking for. PLEASE bring back the old design. In this fast fashion, high turnover market it may seem like you need to change things all the time, but occasionally, even rarely, a product is created that goes beyond all previous conception of what it could be. In these rare moment, don't screw with something that works, especially when you have other products that fit the exact same purpose.

Why a zipper?

5年前

I basically didn't wear any other shirt over the last years, saw the nice new colors and went here to buy one, just to see it ruined by the new design with a zipper. Please revert it to the old design.

How quickly can you Retract a Revision?

The Tribe has spoken. You took a favorite performance everyday shirt and made it a hiking only shirt. Did Veilance sneak into the design studio and ask you to get out of their lane? Please go back to old version, as is but without any logo on the upper middle back, and we can forget this tragedy ever happened.

Best shirt ever, I purchase it every year when color fits my palette. But with zipper, no I will not. Please, bring it like before.
