Field Jacket Men's

Don't get me wrong. In principle I love this jacket and I have had a field overshirt they no longer make for a several years and it fits great and that's where the problem with the field jacket lies. Before I get to that let me just say it has a great little stowed hood and more Pockets than you can imagine which is saying a lot coming from Arc'teryx! The fit is relatively normal around the chest and shoulders but the waist seems made for someone with a 40 inch waist and sorry but you just can't fit everyone even though you want to sell a lot of coats. Even this is not a huge issue in and of itself and I get the aesthetic but the problem is there is this large space at the bottom of the jacket where cold air rushes in with nothing to stop it. There are no draw cords so if you are going to have this gaping waist for design purposes there needs to be some way to seal the hole when the weather is bad. Otherwise the coat provides little protection from anything except rain. Seriously, the obvious solution is put some darn draw cords at the bottom like all your other shells or reduce the billowy look. I don't think anyone will miss it since it is supposed to be a military replica. There's no need to go any further with the aesthetic than that.

Love the jacket. Its style is awesome. But it’s sooo big. Be sure to size down. But even then wish it was a little slimmer. Jacket also came creased from shipping. The neck is all messed up. Hoping I can steam it out or something. Also wished it was just a little longer (but I think it’s short cause I sized down), and also wished the interior pockets were a little higher up on the chest inside the jacket. Overall still happy..

Like above reviews this is an excellent built jacket. The gore tex feels super rugged with 70d, and the interior liner is super soft. It runs larger being a regular fit jacket, and mostly wide. I love the size as I can layer no problem. I am usually a L in all arcteryx. I am 6-1 200lbs and wear size Large. This jacket is the closest thing to the Leaf Alpha shell I have ever had. A couple downsides to this jacket, and I think this is more of a Veilance design thing more than anything is -pockets are not the most accessible. -would love to be able to cinch the waist. Other than that a solid city, going out shell that can be dressed up and feels super rugged and is more comfortable than all other shells because of the liner.

It's a great, well made, substantial-feeling jacket and I like the colour (Shade) but it does run surprisingly large. I've had the Field IS for some years which I've always found true to size. This version of the Field Jacket in the same size (XL), however, feels generally more relaxed than the IS, and is too wide in the body for me. There is a lot of excess material from the armpit down to the hem, even when worn over an insulating layer. Definitely more of a relaxed fit jacket than a regular fit IMO. Also, the jacket was purchased in the sale which is now over, leaving only the current season colours available, and no option to purchase/exchange for a size L in the Shade colour. Disappointing.

Lovely jacket. Very well made. I really wanted it to work for me. Unfortunately the 'regular' fit is much too wide across the body from armpit down to waist. I'm a reasonabliy fit person, but not a stick insect, and i would say the jacket would fit me with at least 10cm taken in across the body. It's just much too loose and hangs badly across the back. It would fit 'ample' (overweight) people quite well i imagine. Nice external pockets. The two zippered internal pockets are not so good. They're way down at the bottom either side of the main zipper.. One zip is vertical and one is horizontal. I would much prefer an internal chest pocket with a vertical zipper. Having tried this jacket i returned to this website with a now more informed and educated eye about Veilance tailoring. Looking again at the photes of most of the outer jackets in the collection display i now realise that they are mostly 'ample' in shape and cut. Without being rude i would observe that they tend to rather hang off the models. The cut generally needs to be straighter down through the body with less excess material flapping around. They have too much of an 'A' (tentish) profile. RTN. N.B. I have 'fitted' tailored jackets from the 'Arcteryx' range and the body shape and cut is much better.

It is an Arcteryx that you can wear to the office. This speaks to the versatility of the product. I can wear it out during the weekend walking around and put it on monday morning with casual pants and go into work. What I appreciate the most is the design of the pockets that allow top loading the pocket as well as side loading for hands or other products. It is expensive but an everyday, any situation jacket.

The design is very iconic for Veilance, and is in my opinion the most unique looking jacket in the lineup. The fit of this jacket is much better than the previous Field LT, which was too trim fitting and overly long. This jacket allows room for layering and looks good as standalone too. It has plenty of pockets for small items which is great for someone who doesn't like carrying bags. The only downside that bothers me a bit is the neck section. The collar is really stiff, as it contains a storm hood, and it's really hard for me to move my head around if I zip it all the way up.

Exceptionally constructed jacket with premium materials. Similar to my much loved, long lived Alpha SV but designed for more urbane environments. The best storm proof urban jacket I have, bar none
