What differentiates Arc'teryx and its products from others?

At Arc'teryx, we are dedicated to a founding principle – improving product performance through technical innovation. Our employees are passionate outdoor enthusiasts who continuously seek solutions to improve performance and enhance the enjoyment of our favorite activities.

We build our products from the ground up to meet a specific need or challenge. Moving beyond the edge of the established design frontier, we consistently break new ground with unconventional design concepts and advanced construction techniques. Each new development further stimulates the evolutionary process, expanding our creative horizon and initiating a new cycle of innovation.

Throughout the process, quality and durability remain paramount. In our quest for performance, our product engineers source — and sometimes develop — the most advanced materials available.

These high-performance materials are fused with forward-thinking designs through innovative construction techniques that yield unparalleled craftsmanship. If imitation is a form of flattery, the world has flattered us through countless attempts to recreate Arc'teryx-driven innovations.

Finally, Arc'teryx requires that each item manufactured be individually inspected to ensure it meets our exacting standards; each Arc'teryx item is guaranteed for the practical lifetime of the product. Arc'teryx is evolution in action.

How do I find replacement parts?

For replacement parts, please fill out the Part Replacement Request Form.

How do I carry/store electronic items? Can I carry electronic items in my GORE-TEX® garment?

Although our WaterTight™ zippers are highly water resistant, they are not fully waterproof. Pockets constructed using waterproof fabrics may collect water if they are opened or accessed during wet or snowy conditions.

We do not recommend keeping items in your pockets that may be damaged by moisture. We strongly recommend that you keep any fragile or electronic devices in a sealable plastic bag inside an internal pocket. Arc'teryx is not responsible for any damage to electronic devices or personal equipment.

How do I determine the name of the garment/item that I currently own?

There are 3 ways to find the name of a product you own depending upon the age of the product:

  • Firstly, if your item appears to be an older model (from about 2003 or earlier), then it is likely that you will be able to find a product 'alias' (a set of 3 letters followed by 3 numbers) inside the garment. By locating the tags inside the garment (inside one of the hand pockets for jackets and on the inside seam for pants), we can establish what model number is assigned to that piece. For example, the series of letters/numbers will be formatted similar to these examples: MGJ 207 or MGP 006.
  • Secondly, if you are able to locate a four-digit number on one of the tags, that product can also be identified using its assigned model number.
  • Thirdly, several of our softshell jackets, fleece garments, base layers and shirts have a batch number located on the end/tip of the care label. The batch number is a nine-digit code with the first five numbers referencing the PO number. By using the PO number, we will be able to decipher the exact model name.

If you email us, or call us with any of these numbers, we will be able to identify which product you are referring to. Alternatively, you can email us a picture of your item and we will endeavor to identify the product for you.

Arc'teryx pack sizing equivalents?

Yes, sometimes our sizing chart and the actual size that it states on the packs are worded differently but each of these equivalent sizes (ie: short-small, regular-medium, tall-large) are synonymous with each other.

What is the difference between the types of fit, such as Athletic fit, and Trim fit?

Arc'teryx prides itself on its product fits. Depending upon the end usage of a garment, different fits are patterned into our garments so that they work in conjunction with other layering pieces, and to enhance the comfort, mobility and performance requirements for the sports we make our products for.

For example, athletic-fit pieces are patterned with more articulation in the shoulders and elbows than trim fit pieces, and yet are still able to be layered underneath an outer shell.

For more information on our product fit guide, please refer to our Sizing Chart page.

What is the difference between a Hardfleece and a Softshell?

Hardfleece garments are designed to act as durable, wind-resistant, insulated mid layers, when worn underneath a waterproof, or windproof outer layer. Hardfleece is inherently more air permeable by nature, which means that air is allowed to pass inwards through the garment. As a result, heat is evacuated quickly, and venting is increased.

For example, someone wearing a hardfleece garment as an outer layer, with no other wind protection on the outside, would feel wind passing through the garment.

Softshell garments are designed to offer more protection from wind and moisture. Although they remain highly breathable (moisture and excess heat from the body is able to escape through the garment), they offer more protection from external wind and moisture passing into the garment. Softshell garments can be worn as outer layers for high-output activities on dry days or in warmer weather. It is not intended that a softshell garment be worn underneath a fully waterproof outer shell.
