My childhood roots are prairie based in the metropolis of rural Saskatchewan. Across the lake from my family's farm there is a tiny ski hill called Mission Ridge with a T-bar where I spent my early days racing around and jumping hay bales.( A perfect place to cultivate a love for late night chilly ski missions!) When I turned twelve I convinced my parents that I desperately needed to spend the summer at a ski racing camp on Mt. Hood, Oregon to catch up to the mountain kids so I would have a chance to fairly compete in the winter. From there on I spent ten summers training (and washing many dishes) on the glacier and subsequently traveling and ski tracing throughout North America in the winters. In my latter ski racing years I lived and ski raced based out of Taos, New Mexico. It was in NM that I was fortunate enough to run into the simple life and learn the ways of full time mountain living.
My first summer après groomer racing life was celebrated with two months in the Karakoram, Pakistan. My time in Pakistan solidified my love for big mountain adventures and so I would continue to travel through Europe, South America, North America etc. enjoying the passions and friendships found up high. After more than a decade of travel and mountain pursuit, I have settled in Revelstoke, BC where rubber boots and a wood stove are a girls' best friend.
In 2012 I completed my apprenticeship as a ski guide and passed the Association of Canadian Mountain Guide Full Ski Guide exam. I spend my winters both ski tour guiding at Battle Abbey and Heli Ski guiding at Mica Heli Guides. I have also started a women's program called Bhumi Mountain Camps which is based out of BC remote ski touring huts. These weeks combine freeride coaching, ski touring, mountain skills and dedicated yoga practice. More information can be found regarding these camps at www.bhumimountaincamps.com
I feel fortunate to not only have work that I appreciate, but also the opportunity to continue to live with passion in the mountains and share real moments with the people that I love. Pushing what I personally think is possible helps me to find perspective in my day to day life. I think that whatever vehicle helps you to find these bright moments in life whether it be art, music, literature, people, sport, creation etc. is the ride you want to keep catching. Journey on.
