Justin Lamoureux is not your typical snowboarder, or human being for that matter. The first time you ride with him, you would think it was his first season by how excited he gets. He's more excited than a teenager and he's been snowboarding for 24 years It's the kind of passion that gets everyone going and giddy. And you better be prepared to ride the whole day and pack plenty of snacks because he doesn't stop.
Justin has had a long successful career as a competitive halfpipe snowboarder. He has circumnavigated the globe more than a flight attendant chasing competitions. He's been on the Canadian Halfpipe team since 1998, has numerous podiums under his belt as well as competing at both the 2006 and 2010 Olympics, finishing the latter in 7th place (a Canadian record). In 2010 he also won the famous FIS crystal globe for being the World Cup Champion. Not content to only compete in halfpipe, he's also spent a few years on the national team for boardercross, and had success in slopestyle and big air competitions as well. But, that is just the competitive side of his snowboarding.
Justin is really an explorer by nature. Having his riding start in the Eastern townships of Quebec, Justin was often on the run from ski patrol for being in the trees all day long looking for powder. When he moved to Banff, he met some of his greatest friends and started hiking around the Rocky Mountains on snowshoes to reach and search for lines. He's got first descents in Alberta, BC and Alaska (even a 'first surf' at a break in Alaska!) and has been lucky enough to ride lines in Europe, Chile, New Zealand, Japan and of course all over North America. Having lived for over a decade in beautiful Whistler and Squamish, BC Justin is routinely 'seen' guiding his splitboard into the deeper corners of his backyard looking for new lines.
Never one to sit still (or do one thing at a time) Justin is now designing snowboards for K2. Somehow balancing a desk job with being a pro snowboarder, a typical week goes from Autocad, to a world cup halfpipe competition to riding big couloirs. Sometimes all within 24 hours!
When not riding or making snowboards, Justin can be found surfing, climbing, mountain biking, skateboarding or building custom wooden objects at '1080 Wood'.
Supported by his beautiful wife Kimmie(who's vicious on uphills!), Justin also recently added 'dad' to his job descriptions.
