Covert Cases: The Urban Vagabond
It's often true that behind the scenes of the well-seasoned, discreet traveler lurk stories of luggage disasters, tangles with customs, and awkward airline moments. For the Arc'teryx designer behind the new Covert Cases, this is not the exception.
Before joining Arc'teryx, Nathan Kukathas logged over a thousand flights, traveling intensely on business, gear bags in tow, thinking about how infinitely simpler things could be just by having the right luggage. Duffle bags have no shape, packs are meant to carry not serve as suitcases and wheelie bags have their limitations on stairs and over cobblestones. By the time he came on board with Arc'teryx as a designer, Nathan had enough hands-on experience and intense interactions with the travel process to have a shape formed in his mind, ready for realization.
Covert Cases: discreet, versatile, structured. The outcome of much thought, these simple bags are structured rectangular cubes that stand on end, fit easily into luggage compartments, have multiple carry options, and are exceptionally durable – a core Arc'teryx design value.
Resilient materials, technically crafted, with thoughtful features to achieve the least weight possible are signature Arc'teryx elements. Our Covert Cases use a premium low weight fabric package treated to prevent dirt, snow, and water pick-up during travel. Internal compression straps, full zipper closure, hidden buckles, and carry straps that store in external compartments demonstrate knowledge gained through experience and a disciplined approach to design, materials, and construction.
Flying under the radar with understated sophistication, Covert Cases have subtle largeness in all three categories: Carry On (CO), Check In (CI) and International Carry On (ICO). "Take more, appear to have less." For the urban vagabond; Nathan has moved on to other forms of flying.
These cases have already garnered a good share of positive recognition, winning an OutDoor Industry Gold Award 2012, an annual selection of the top 10 new products. We can't wait for you to be able to check them out for yourself as part of our Spring 2013 collection!
