About a month or so ago, Leigh and Spring started individually posting these amazing photos on our Facebook page, one after another (and another, and another). Believe us, we absolutely loved every single one, sharing a bunch of them to our Timeline. But after the fourth or fifth one, we decided it was time for them to properly introduce themselves and tell us a bit about their adventures. Here's Spring:

"Myself and Leigh moved from a relatively sedentary city life in Dublin, Ireland around mid 2010. Leigh being Irish, and myself being Canadian but having been living in Ireland for the previous 6 years. Back then the word 'gaiter' had never passed our lips before, nor had the word 'crampon' or many other terms for equipment and terrain that one encounters in the mountains.

We moved directly to Squamish and found the wild at our doorstep and embraced it. We try to push ourselves a little harder with each trip and, thanks to a great community of outdoor enthusiasts in South West BC, have been able to get out nearly every free day possible with like minded people and explore and learn to travel safely in the mountains here.

Two trips that stand out as highlights in the last year took place in Joffre Lakes Provincial Park. In my humble opinion it is the best proving ground for any budding mountaineer or climber to hone their skills and abilities. Access to the goods is pretty quick, a novelty in SW BC where an approach from sea level is not uncommon, and the routes are aesthetic and, more importantly, fun.

On Easter long weekend we planned to head in and tackle two routes, The Aussie Couloir on Joffre Peak and the NE Spur on Mount Matier. We didn't bother with tents and instead tested out a new shelter option which is a snow pit. It's as the name indicates, a pit dug in the snow with a tarp stretched over it and propped up in the center with a hiking pole.

We started early and successfully summited both of the routes we had our eyes on. It turned out to be so good that I knew I'd be back in this area before the season was over.

A few months later I got word of a trip planned to visit the lesser documented Mount Howard. This would prove to be more of an exploratory trip. Again we slept in a snow pit, the weather was phenomenal and over the weekend we managed to reach the summit of not only Mount Howard but also Mount Matier again, but this time via its West Ridge, descend it's NW Face and summit Mount Hartzell after an unsuccessful attempt on Mount Spetch via its South face.

This park is simply amazing to explore and we plan to come back and try at least a few of its other, more difficult routes each year to test our abilities. Once we feel good enough at home here we plan to try and test ourselves further in the Himalayas before the decade is out.

On both of these trips, myself and Leigh wore Alpha LT jackets and Leigh wore the Alpha LT 1/2 Bib. Our harnesses are also by Arc'teryx, mine is the X-350A and Leigh's is the R-320A. We both love all this gear for one main reason, we never have to think about it. It just works. We put it on and then we can concentrate on enjoying our time in the mountains. Our jackets are pretty much with us on every trip, as we rely on them for our waterproof, windproof, or emergency night out system."
