Alpine Arc'ademy 2013
High above Chamonix, on the Aiguille du Midi, our second Alpine Arc'ademy will take place from June 14th to 16th. It's a great weekend for beginner alpinists, or those who want to improve their skills and share their passion with others. Our goal is to provide participants with a better understanding of individual security and expertise in the mountains in order to allow them to experience the joy it can bring in a safe setting. Participants can choose from a broad spectrum of clinics, including a new special addition this year: Alpine photography with top photographer Alexandre Buisse.
Alpine professionals (mountain guides from the local Compagnie des Guides, as well as Arc'athletes Ines Papert, Will Gadd, Nina Caprez, Luka Lindič) and the Arc'ademy's host brands (Arc'teryx, GORE-TEX, Suunto, Petzl, SCARPA) will guide participants through the three days, covering topics such as equipment choice, alpine tours, alpine climbing, high altitude medicine, mountain rescue, and the ups and downs of alpinism in all its variations. Guests will be able to test the latest equipment, extend their skills, and join us for the lecture night, covering such topics as injury prevention and caring for climbing equipment. A roundtable discussion with some of the world's best alpinists on the topic of 'What is alpinism today' should rouse lively debate, followed by a spectacular film evening at the Alpine Movie Night.
You can find additional information and online workshop registration on the Alpine Arc'ademy website, follow the Arc'ademy Facebook page for the latest updates, and enter a draw for a two-person trip to the Alpine Arc'ademy, complete with equipment from the sponsoring brands.
